Tethers: A Words-Work Retreat in Miami
Art Jaunt to Sacramento
This overnight getaway, led by Art Muse President Clare Kunny and our northern California muse Erika Esau, features distinctive museums in Sacramento and Davis, two California cities with unique art venues.
The Sacramento region has significant art to offer! Our overnight jaunt will include private visits to two museums and The California State Library. In Sacramento, we’ll visit the California History Room of the library to view iconic early photographs made in California during the Gold Rush. The Crocker Art Museum is the oldest public art museum west of the Mississippi. Founded in 1885 with the artworks donated to the city by railroad mogul E.B. Crocker and his wife Margaret, the art they donated is still exhibited in the original Crocker Art Gallery building, while the pavilion added in 2010 has tripled its exhibition spaces. A short drive from Sacramento, on the campus of UC Davis, is the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art. The Manetti Shrem Museum of Art, opened in 2016, was listed as one of the 25 best museum buildings of the past 100 years. It is considered a hub of creative practice for today’s thinkers, makers and innovators, now and for generations to come.
